In an exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, Sanjay Mishra praises Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 director Anees Bazmee and recalls something unexpectedly great happening during the BB2 shoot.
Sanjay Mishra on Anees Bazmee before Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 release
Upon being asked if Sanjay Mishra is nervous about the Bhool Bhuliayaa 3 release, he answered, “Bhool Bhuliayaa mere liye ek film nahi hai, mere liye Anees Bazmee hai (Bhool Bhulaiyaa isn’t just a movie for me; it’s Anees Bazme).”
Continuing, “The director, sir, jo bahut mejaaz wale aadmi hai, mahual wale aadmi hai (The director himself is a man of great personality). Bahut hi behetareen waale director hai, kabhi filmain flop hoti hai achi hoti hai, lekin jo banane ka process haina Anees Bazmee ka lovely. (He’s an excellent director. Films can be hits or flops, but the process of making them, especially Anees Bazmee’s, is lovely). Matlab aap bhi bahut contribute karte hai usme, aur woh jaante hai ki ‘Yes, yeh contribution dega.’ Aur bahut mazaa aaya, matlab Bhool Bhulaiyaa main bahut kuch hai, aur mazaa aata hai har baar (It means you contribute a lot, and he knows, ‘Yes, he’ll contribute.’ We have a great time. Bhool Bhulaiyaa is something else entirely, and every time, it’s enjoyable).
Sanjay Mishra on Anees Bazmee as director
When asked if Aneez Bazmee is biased in keeping Sanjay in the film in terms of the continuity of an actor, Mishra answered, “Yeh toh unka badhapann hai. Ek badi cheez hoti hai, technical cheez hum log ke acting line main usko continuity bolte hai (That’s his generosity. There’s a technical aspect in acting that we deal with—continuity). Bahut saree directors ka kehena hai ki yaar ‘Sanjay Mishra har take main alag hi kardeta hai yaar. Aur mere main woh bhoot hai ki koi cheez iss tarike se karke dekhu’ (Many directors say, ‘This is Sanjay Mishra, and he does something different in every take’. (There’s a spark in me that says, ‘Let’s try this way or that way’)”.
The actor responded, “Abh maine tujhe aise karke maar diya ‘abe hatt’ toh woh assistant aayega ki takiya se nahi maara tha, pichli baar, ‘Are nahi acha lag raha hai tu chup raha kar, who jo kar rahe hai who karne de’ (One time, I shoved someone away like this, but the assistant comes back saying, ‘Last time, you didn’t shove him with a pillow.’ I respond, ‘Just be quiet, let me do my thing’).”
Sanjay Mishra on Anees Bazmee’s management
He said, “Toh yeh woh cheez hoti hai ki take 1,’Sir mera naam Sanjay Mishra hai, mera naam Guru hai, mera naam Gopal hai aur meri chaai ki dukaan hai’, cut, cut, cut…(So, there’s a thing that, in the previous take, you said, ‘My name is Sanjay Mishra. Sir, my name is Guru. Sir, my name is Gopal, and I own a tea shop’ Cut, cut, cut)”.
The Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 actor answered, “Abh dobaara shuru hua, ‘Sir mera naam Gopal hai, meri chaai ki dukaan hai’, sir aapne pichli baar who haaat raise nahi kiya tha toh woh continuity thodi dikkat hojaati hai, baadme editor bahut maarta hai assistant ko. ‘Saale raise kaise tune continuity kharab ki’ (‘Last time, your hand was over here, not there.’ This continuity issue later troubles the editor, who scolds the assistant: ‘How did you mess up continuity like this?’) Lekin Aneez bhaai ko hai ki main woh manage karlunga. Sanjay Mishra pe jo aaraha hai aane do (But Anees Bhai is like, ‘I’ll manage that. Let whatever Sanjay Mishra brings come through’).
Sanjay Mishra recalls an incident while filming Bhool Bhuliayaa 2
Sanjay Mishra recalled an incident while filming Bhool Bhulaiyaa; he said,“Main bhool raha hoon woh scene jaha Bhool Bhulaiyaa part 2, thapad khaane ke baad woh keheta hai ki ‘woh bhootni nahi hai, woh doctor hai, kuch toh hai’ (For instance, in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, after he gets slapped, he says, ‘This isn’t a ghost; she’s a doctor. She’s doing something to me.) Woh cheeze aati hai toh aane do, aur bahut se directors hai ‘jo jaise aate hai waise baahar aane do’ (So those things happen; let them come. Some directors insist on exact continuity, saying, ‘Last time you did it like this, so do it like that’)”.
Mishra concluded, “Lekin kuch directors hai jo aapne woh aisa kiya, nahi nahi cheese jo aarahi hai woh aane do. Continuity sambhaal lenge, woh technical cheese haina by chance aaye hai aur woh achi cheese aagaye hai (But for those moments where something unique or good happens by chance, just let it be. Let the continuity be managed—it’s a technical thing. When something unexpectedly great comes up, let it stay).”
